Bollywood Actress Neha OberoiI Says: am not open to doing bold scenes

Bollywood’s new entrant Neha Oberoi, who started with the ‘lovebuds’ story in the film ‘Dus Kahaniya’, says she is happy with a glamorous image but will not be comfortable doing bold scenes.

“I am a glamorous girl but I am not open to doing bold scenes. I am not comfortable doing kissing scenes or shedding clothes on screen,” says Neha, who has acted in Sanjay Gupta’s film ‘Woodstock villa’, releasing next month.

Oberoi, who play ‘Reshma’ in the film, is happy with the way her character has shaped. “I consider it as my debut film because this was the first Hindi film that I signed.” “I play a ambitious small town girl who comes to Mumbai to become a model and an actor. It is a suspense thriller also starring Sikander Kher (Anupam Kher’s son),” she says.

Neha, who debuted with a very small role in ‘Dus Kahaniya’, however, is not worried about her unconventional launch but finds herself lucky to work with some great actors.

“I am happy with the way my career is shaping up. Though I started with a small role but I can’t be more thankful to God because during this film I got the chance to work in the company of actors like Naseerji, Shabanaji, Nana Patekar,” she says.

Even as Neha’s film ‘Woodstock villa’ is all set to hit the theaters next month, the actress is not sitting idle. She has already bagged an important role in a film starring Sanjay Dutt.

“I am also working in a film ‘EMI’ which stars Sanjay Dutt. The film is a satire on how the loan recovery agents harass a common man to recover loan amount,” she says. So, was she nervous working opposite Sanjay Dutt? “Well, I was nervous initially. But I had already worked with him in a song for ‘Woodstock Villa’. There was no problem and we shot some long shots quite easily,” Oberoi says.

Although competition is the buzz word in Bollywood but Neha is all prepared and confident to create a space for herself in the film industry.

“I don’t have any competition because I am not competing with anybody. I believe there is enough space for everybody and if I am good then my work will speak for me,” she quips with confidence.

However, Oberoi admits that she had no inclination nor any idea about acting which happened quite by a chance. The actress had never thought to make a career in Bollywood.

“I never thought that I will be an actor someday. After my 12 standard, I did a music video and soon offers started pouring in from south and I decided to give it a shot,” “My first film ‘Balu’ won me a filmfare award and it gave me a big boost,” she says.

Bollywood director wants Sexy Katrina Kaif to play Scarlett Keeling in movie

A director from the Indian film industry is hoping that Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif will play the role of Scarlett Keeling - the 15-year-old British girl whose bruised, half-naked body was found on a beach in Goa in February - in his new film.

Prabhakar Shukla said that he wanted to show the seedier side of India's beach paradise.

Fiona McKeown, Scarlett's mother said that she had reservations about the proposed film, which she feared would portray Scarlett in a bad light, rather than her killers and the police who tried to cover their tracks.

"It's far too soon to be thinking about a film of Scarlett's life - she hasn't even been buried yet," Telegraph quoted her, as saying.

However, Shukla defended his project by saying: "The film will of course be commercial in the Bollywood sense. Singing and dancing always enhances the story. But the moving story of Scarlett's death will also be there."
"I want to show the people what is happening in Goa - how there is a drug racket going on in the vacation spot and how people are slowly getting addicted and ruining their lives," he added.

He said he hoped that Katrina Kaif, Bollywood's leading lady, would play Scarlett.

Bollywood Film PRANALI FAILS TO ATTRACT CROWDS

The third Hindi movie released this Friday is 'Pranali -The Tradition'. Its producer Nikhil Mathur had decided as early as July 20007 to make this film based on the centuries old Indian tradition of Devdasis. In fact, he had visited several places where this tradition of Devdasis exists even today. Really, the producer seems to be nourishing the idea of giving legal sanction to such women who are practicing this age-old tradition in the name of God. So, Nikhil thinks of changing the social concept of treating Devdasis in a disrespectful way. He wants the society that has created this tradition to give due respect to them. That's why he involved himself in this socially awaking script. This is another matter that the society or the larger Indian audience that is accustomed to viewing movies at present may not like to watch it.

They may not like to identify themselves with whatever Nikhil wants to show them on the screen. Very small and enlightened strata may agree with the producer as the movie talks about legalizing the profession of prostitution.

The audience needs to be told about it in a more convincing way. Nikhil has assigned this difficult task to debut director Hirdesh Kamble. Though the latter has taken upon his shoulders this very difficult, if not impossible, task, he fails in implementing the producer's concept for lack of precision in implanting script onscreen.

Let's analyze the movie's story. This begins when a foreigner known as Judy comes across a prostitute named Pranali whose husband is writing a book on her life. Then the movie goes into flashback: In a famine hit poor village, the parents of a little girl (Pranali) get convinced by a priest to allow their daughter enter into the system of Devdasis. Under this system in the name of God young girls are forced to carry out prostitution. The rich and famous strata of the society is afflicted to the Devdasi system. So, Pranali is handed over to the priest to carry out the system of Devdasis. No sooner Pranali reaches the Mumbai red light area than she decides to give birth to a baby and she seeks education for her child but her kid is barred from getting education from the place where all the socially sanctioned people are teaching their kids! Here enters the scene a NRI who helps Pranali to get her kid educated; he also writes a book on Pranali's life. The NRI helps Pranali's co-sex workers to get out of the wretched tradition and also tries to get a legal sanction for the so-called profession of sex-workers. However, the movie suffers in several departments. Let's talk about the performance of its cast. But for Nargis the others fail miserably in doing their jobs.

They include Sudha Chandran, Deepshikha , Upendra Limaye, and Raman Trikha besides others. Performances of almost all these actors fall below average. Yes, some of them, especially Upendra Limaye, Sudha, Deepshika and Vinay Apte had any good scope for their roles. This is in spite of the fact that the director had organized two workshops for its cast. This is another matter that the workshops helped the director to complete the movie within forty days.
That's why it has cost the producer around Rs 80/85 million. Though the screenplay and music prove ineffective in bringing out anything from the movie, its music is a little satisfactory inasmuch as Kailash Kher is beginning his innings as a singer with this movie. Besides eminent kathak guru Birju Maharaj has given lessons to Deepshikha for this movie. Incidentally, the movie is simultaneously releasing in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The movie may not ring its cash registers because of its failure to appeal to the general moviegoers.
