Zulay Henao

Zulay Henao

She’s done stints on Law & Order: SVU and Lifetime, and now Medellín-born stunner Zulay Henao is literally hitting the big time starring opposite Terrence Howard in the underground brawling flick Fighting. Despite a military background and a few childhood mishaps, Zulay is far from the violent type. Listen as she gently shares some notable firsts.

First Fight
The only real fight I’ve ever been in was when I was 14, and it involved people bullying my younger sister. I remember her coming home crying, so I was like, “Come on, let’s go get them!” My family is my soft spot, and whenever they’re in some kind of trouble, I’m there.

First Family Feud
One time my brother and sisters and I were chasing each other around a hotel room while on a family vacation. We were just playing around, being stupid, and I slammed a door on my sister’s hand. I almost cut off the middle finger of her right hand! Even to this day, when I see her finger, I’m like, “Fuck!”

First Kiss
Boy, that was a long time ago. My sisters and I used to play house, and sometimes we’d invite boys over to play. One day we invited this boy Sergio. He was cute, and the kiss was all sweet and innocent. But then my mother found out, and I was done seeing Sergio.

First Day of Basic Training
I went into the army right after high school, and the first day of basic training was really hard. We were in the cold at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and it was miserable. I quickly realized I’d have to change my attitude if I was going to get through it. I’ve always tried to make the most out of my experiences, but that one was tough.
